HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The entrance to the Police Museum was designed to replicate entrances of the 1920's. The green lights originally lit the doorway of the Riverhead Police Department.
Weapons from the 1920's, including a mint 1921 Thompson submachine gun are on display in our "1925 Station house" display area. The license plates pictured once adorned vehicles driven by town and village constables over 50 years ago.  In many cases these "police" vehicles were privately owned by the constables themselves.

Our "1925 Station house" display is a replica of the former Babylon Village Police Department. Both the desk and cell block were used in Babylon. A tin ceiling was installed to add to the 1920's atmosphere.
